A bikini can't solve everything, but it's a good start! . So I've been feeling a little stressed lately with a few things going on in life and I'm doing what I can to control those stress levels (a lot of deep breathing, hot bath, quiet walk, and some CBD oil), because I am feeling the affects it's having on my adrenal glands. As I mentioned before, adrenal fatigue leads to a cascade of other issues with your hormones and weight gain.. First it can deplete your progesterone and testosterone. Then that can lead to estrogen dominance and possibly a low thyroid... you see where I'm going with this. Stress is no joke and there are many things that your body can perceive as stress such as: . ✔over exercise ✔lack of sleep ✔poor absorption of foods leading to nutrients deficiencies. ✔digestive issues . So it's not just the typical stress that you feel that can have an affect on your hormones. We have to keep our adrenal glands healthy. Thankfully I've been through this before and I know all the steps I need to take to start getting my hormones back under control and those are the same tools I teach mr clients because life is always changing and we need to know how to work with that to stay healthy and avoid weight gain. . If you think adrenal fatigue is causing hormonal imbalances or weight gain for you, click on the link in my bio to schedule a complimentary consultation call. . . . . #adrenalfatigue #womenover50 #womenover40 #womenshealth #fitover50 #fitover40 #hormones #weightloss #stress #menopause

There's a difference between being thin and being fit! Sure I was thin in my twenties and thirties but fit I was not. . Until about the age of 35 my diet consisted of a lot of sugar and processed foods. I didn't have a clue about nutrition and I was lucky if I made it to the gym once a week. So although I may have looked healthy because I was thin, I wasn't very healthy on the inside. I suffered from almost daily gut aches, had way less energy than I do now and probably not much muscle. The changes I have made over the past 15 years I think have really helped to slow the aging process and now I feel fit! Some things that I think really helped... . ✔Switching to a largely plant based (I eat meat but eat tons of plant based foods) that keeps me full and satisfied and not crashing from all the sugar. . ✔Not constantly living in a calorie deficit which after awhile screws up your metabolism. . ✔Making exercise a priority and switching from being a cardio queen to regular weight training. . ✔Ditching soda and switching to at least 80 ounces of water daily. . ✔Stopped feeling guilty for spending time bettering myself (why do we do this as moms) . All in all I created healthier habits and stuck to them. I stopped making excuses and I stopped comparing myself to others because I had just as equal of an opportunity to look fit too as long as I was willing to do the work. . If you are struggling with getting started or staying consistent, just start by improving one new thing this week and when that gets easy, move on to another. I like to take things in steps with my clients so it doesn't all seem so overwhelming. If you don't know where to start I would love to help!. . Yes it is possible to look better in your 50's than 20"s and more importantly feel healthier too! . Okay so where do you start? It's really not as complicated as it may seem, but I know with soooooo much information out there you can feel over whelmed. Let me break it down and make it simple for you. It takes a few steps: . ✔ A nutrition plan that works for YOUR individual body. We are all so different so one diet may work well for one and not another. . ✔The right type of exercise for your age and body type. . ✔Hormonal balance so your hormones work for you not against you. . ✔Gut and liver functions working properly to improve your hormones, metabolism, and overall health. This will also eliminate issues with bloating. . ✔Adequate sleep, water, carbohydrates, protein. etc. Know how much YOU personally need. . Once you get these things dialed in, the magic happens and the aging process seems to magically slow down. . Don't know where to start? I'm your girl! I have spent years studying how our bodies work after the age of 40 and have helped hundreds of women start their journey to becoming an #agelesswomen. It's actually about 80 degrees today...isn't that crazy for the holiday season? Speaking of the holidays, I just got off the phone with a client that wanted me to help her with a plan to stay on track for the holidays but still enjoy time with her family, so I thought I would share some suggestions I gave her. . ✔ Start your mornings with a green smoothie so you are getting a high nutrient, lower calorie meal to start the day. . ✔If possibly eat a high fiber lunch like a large salad with a variety of vegetables, seeds or nuts, and some lean protein. This will help you not go into dinner later starving. . ✔Always fill your plate for dinner with as much vegetables or salad as possible and then take smaller portions of the foods that may be a little higher in calories. The veggies will fill you up and you won't overeat the mashed potatoes. . ✔Opt for a light drink like club soda with a splash of vodka and fresh squeezed lemons and limes. I like to add a dash of stevia too. . ✔Don't beat yourself up if you go a little overboard one night. Get right back on track the next morning. . ✔Allow yourself small treats so you don't feel deprived and binge later, but keep in mind one Christmas cookie is fine, a plate of them is probably not healthy. . ✔Don't have the attitude that it's a free for all until January 1st because you could easily put on 5 pounds during this short period of time. . ✔Squeeze in a workout, even if it's a quick 15 minutes to burn some extra calories you might be eating later. . When you have worked so hard to reach your goals like so many of my clients, this can be a stressful time of feeling like you are going to lose everything you have accomplished so far, but with a little more mindful eating and drinking it doesn't have to be! . What are some of your worries or suggestions for the holidays? . . . . . #holiday #holidaytips #stayingfit #fitover50 #fitover40 #womenover50 #bikiniover40
